An excellent, educational book for youth (or anyone
An excellent, educational book for youth (or anyone!) on African lions, written by an expert couple, Beverly and Dereck Joubert, who have spent a great deal of their lives actually living in bush country, studying and photographing lions and other African wildlife. The wonderful photos in the book, as well as the information they share regarding the personalities, habits, lifespan, threats, and conservation issues are invaluable in the effort to bring awareness to the precarious existence of lions and other wildlife in Africa.

lots of information & great photos
I bought this to go along with my boys unit study on safari animals. It's a great book, absolutely full of information and written in an interesting way. My boys are 5 and 7 and while they enjoyed it, I skipped around a bit and only read parts of it to them. It's very wordy and a lot of it was a little too much for them right now. They did enjoy the book though. The pictures are real photos of lions and not drawings so that was a big draw for them (and me!) and there were plenty of little short paragraphs and captions that captured their interest for this school year. It will be an excellent book to revisit in a few years to do a more in-depth study of the subject.

Fascinating book, amazing photography
My wildlife-obsessed ten-year-old loved this book! The information is thorough and well-written, and the photography is beautiful! I highly recommend this book for upper-elementary or middle school kids who love big cats, African wildlife, or animals in general.
Also, I'd like to respectfully point out that WebCortex's book review does recommend this book for grades 4-8, and that it is clearly marked as 32 pages. Please don't give a great book a bad review just because you didn't read the description carefully--it's unfair to the authors and to potential customers.
